About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide leadership, direction and support for one or more patient care departments
- Direct day-to-day operations for assigned patient care departments with 24/7 operational responsibility
- Direct clinical and non-clinical staff, review and approve new hires, and establish performance appraisal standards
- Identify staffing needs, coordinate staff training, and provide ongoing performance feedback
- Establish departmental scope of service, goals and strategic plans
- Review departmental policies, procedures and systems and conduct promotional activities
- Monitor and direct all patient care activities
- Evaluate programs, process improvements, client-centered outcomes and organizational outcomes
- Manage budgets, staffing, revenue, expenses, contribution margin and FTEs
- Prepare budgets and reports, forecast expenses, address negative variances and propose capital budget items
- Promote physician input and communication and respond to medical staff concerns
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing requirements
- Ensure safe, compassionate, personalized and efficient care for patients, staff and visitors
- Support professional growth, continuing education and skills competency
- Serve as a preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Nursing degree from an accredited school of professional nursing required
- Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
- Five (5) years of progressive clinical experience
- Professional certification in clinical area or management within one year of hire preferred
- Master’s degree preferred
- Ability to direct clinical and non-clinical staff and maintain 24/7 operational responsibility
- Knowledge of regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing requirements and standards
