About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform patient care activities, including identifying and responding to abnormal findings
  • Escalate changes in patient condition to the nurse
  • Assist with activities of daily living, including elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, nutrition, mobility, bathing, toileting, and progress activity
  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse
  • Obtain vital signs and visually monitor patient condition
  • Document patient information accurately and report unusual changes or findings
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens as prescribed within the scope of the role
  • Help orient new employees as appropriate
  • Follow Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, safety rules, and service standards
  • Support mandatory education, skills competency, department goals, time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • No formal education required
  • Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association within 90 days of employment
  • One (1) year of prior patient care experience, such as Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Patient Care Technician, or similar role
  • Preferably experience in an acute care setting
  • Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT I and II position, validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education no later than the end of orientation
