About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform patient care activities, including identifying and responding to abnormal findings
Escalate changes in the patient’s condition to the nurse
Assist with activities of daily living, including elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, nutrition, mobility, bathing, toileting, and progress activity
Practice patient- and family-centered care
Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse
Monitor vital signs and patients’ conditions visually
Document patient information accurately and report unusual changes or findings
Maintain a safe and clean working environment
Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens within the scope of the role
Help orient new employees as appropriate
Follow Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, safety rules, and service standards
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Certified in Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association before hire
Two (2) years of prior patient care experience (e.g. Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician) or similar role required, preferably in an acute care setting
Phlebotomy skills check-off required within 90 days of hire
Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT position, validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education no later than the end of orientation
Ability to provide patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
