About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform patient care activities, including identifying and responding to abnormal findings and escalating changes in the patient’s condition to the nurse
- Assist with activities of daily living, including elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, nutrition, mobility, bathing, toileting, and progress activity
- Provide direct patient care for assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
- Monitor vital signs and patients’ conditions visually
- Document patient information accurately and report unusual changes or findings to the nurse
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and standards
- Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens as prescribed within the scope of the role
- Help orient new employees as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Education: None
- Certified in Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association before hire
- Two (2) years of prior patient care experience (e.g. Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician) or similar role required, preferably in an acute care setting
- Phlebotomy skills check off required within 90 days of hire
- Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT position, validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education no later than the end of orientation
