About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform patient care activities under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
- Identify and respond to abnormal findings and escalate changes in patient condition to the nurse
- Provide support with elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, nutrition, mobility, bathing, toileting, and other activities of daily living
- Take and document vital signs and visually monitor patient condition
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation and report unusual changes or findings
- Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens within the scope of the role
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Follow Memorial Hermann safety policies, procedures, and service standards
- Support mandatory education, skills competency, department goals, and organizational safety programs
- Help orient new employees as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certified in Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association before hire
- Two (2) years of prior patient care experience, such as Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician, or a similar role
- Acute care experience preferred
- Phlebotomy skills check-off required within 90 days of hire
- Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT position, validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education by the end of orientation
- No formal education required
