About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct patient care for assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse
- Monitor vital signs and visually assess patient condition
- Support hygiene, toileting, mobility, nutrition, bathing, comfort, safety, and other activities of daily living
- Document patient information accurately and report unusual changes or findings to the nurse
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Follow Memorial Hermann safety rules, policies, procedures, and standards
- Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens within the scope of the role
- Meet mandatory education and skills competency requirements
- Help orient new employees as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- No formal education required
- Certified in Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association before hire
- Two (2) years of prior patient care experience (e.g. Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician) or similar role required, preferably in an acute care setting
- Phlebotomy skills check-off required within 90 days of hire
- Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT position, validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education no later than the end of orientation
