About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct patient care for assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse
- Identify and respond to abnormal findings and escalate changes in patient condition to the nurse
- Provide vital signs, visual monitoring, hygiene, toileting, mobility, nutrition, bathing, and other activities of daily living support
- Document patient information accurately and report unusual changes or findings
- Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment
- Follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and organizational safety programs
- Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while managing time, supplies, productivity, and service quality
- Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens within the scope of the role
- Help orient new employees as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certified in Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association before hire
- Two years of prior patient care experience, such as Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician, or a similar role
- Prior experience preferably in an acute care setting
- Phlebotomy skills check-off required within 90 days of hire
- Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT position, validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education by the end of orientation
- No formal education required
