About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assess patients and develop and initiate treatment plans based on evaluation results
Perform measurements of neuromuscular and skeletal functions as part of evaluations
Provide direct patient care and basic physical therapy treatments
Document findings, progress, instructions, and other required information in medical records
Complete comprehensive patient evaluations and interpret evaluation findings
Develop written plans of care, goals, and comprehensive treatment programs
Assume responsibility for patient care performed by assistants and rehabilitation technicians
Regularly assess patients and modify goals, plans, or programs as indicated
Motivate and instruct patients and caregivers
Communicate with patients, caregivers, physicians, insurance companies, and professional colleagues
Present relevant professional literature topics at meetings, grand rounds, conferences, and university settings as delegated or requested
Manage time effectively
Ensure safe care and comply with Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, standards, budget, productivity, and quality requirements
Promote professional growth through mandatory and continuing education and skills competency
Support department goals and perform other assigned duties
Provide split-position coverage at the SMR Pearland East and Alvin clinics

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based Physical Therapy program
Current or temporary license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
Current certification in Basic Life Support
For direct access practice: doctoral degree with a residency or fellowship program, OR licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis
Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
Ability to occasionally/frequently push and lift 75–100 pounds and carry up to 30 pounds
Prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping and squatting
Fine hand dexterity and eye-hand coordination
Ability to receive oral and written communication and communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment; recognize alphanumeric characters; distinguish colors; and observe physical characteristics
