About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to deliver patient care using the nursing process
  • Provide professional nursing care, including nursing assessments, examinations and treatments, patient education, and medical-record maintenance
  • Deliver safe and appropriate care according to nursing skills inventory and patient age and needs
  • Coordinate nursing-care planning with interdisciplinary teams and make appropriate clinical decisions
  • Collaborate with, direct, and delegate to healthcare teams to achieve positive patient outcomes
  • Coordinate treatment plans and develop or implement discharge and transfer plans
  • Participate in interdisciplinary program evaluation, process improvement, and client-centered outcomes
  • Address diverse patient needs across the continuum of care and optimize the patient experience
  • Ensure safety for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards
  • Promote professional growth and development; serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff
  • Complete other assigned duties within scope of practice and clinical competency

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
  • Certified in Basic Life Support
  • Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements
  • RN experience groupings: newly licensed RN, less than 1 year, 1–3 years, 3–10 years, or 10+ years
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must adhere to Texas Board of Nursing standards
  • Must meet mandatory/continuing education and skills competency requirements
  • Must work within scope of practice and clinical competency
