About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as senior technical authority on complex, strategic sales opportunities
  • Articulate Menlo Security solution benefits to technical and executive audiences
  • Architect solutions meeting customer needs and budget
  • Lead proof-of-concept engagements, including deployment and configuration of Menlo Security services or software
  • Train users and interface between Sales and technical staff to resolve open issues
  • Mentor and upskill junior Sales Engineers and channel partner engineers
  • Use AI-assisted tools for account research, competitive positioning, technical documentation, RFP responses, and follow-up communications
  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers and channel partners on technical strategy and partner-led opportunities
  • Act as escalation point for technically challenging or high-visibility customer engagements
  • Report customer-account and field-activity feedback to Sales, Product Management, and Engineering
  • Maintain current account records using AI-generated call summaries and CRM enrichment
  • Own technical wins from discovery through proof of concept to close

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Based in New York, with travel throughout the Northeast territory as needed
  • 7+ years of pre-sales experience in the computer networking or security space, including leading technical strategy on complex or enterprise-scale deals
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with web proxy technologies, network security, firewalls, IDS/IPS, HTTP/SSL proxies, OSI model, IPv4/6, routing, switching, DNS, VLANs and subnetting, email security, and mail flow
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including communicating business value and technical advantages to executive-level audiences
  • Experience mentoring or informally leading technical sales professionals
  • Experience with malware analysis, sandboxing, host-based forensics, and Windows internals
  • Network forensics experience, including packet capture and analysis
  • Incident response experience, including workflow procedures, evidence gathering, and chain of custody handling
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, SCCM, LDAP/RADIUS/TACACS+, two-factor authentication, VMware, Citrix, and VDI
  • Familiarity with hacking and exploitation tools, malware families, and AV/IDS/IPS evasion techniques
  • Working knowledge of Menlo Security competitors
  • Fluency with AI-assisted sales and productivity tools
  • Ability to prioritize and execute project tasks methodically and set clear expectations with stakeholders and team members
  • Authorization to lawfully work for Menlo Security in the country or region of application
