About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead approximately 8–10 frontend and backend engineers and report to the CPO
Spend roughly half the time coding and half leading and developing the team
Own delivery for an agile engineering team working in small, outcome-owning squads
Set technical direction and establish clear, effective processes across the stack
Guide the Next.js/TypeScript frontend hosted on Vercel and PHP/Symfony backend on AWS
Drive AI-native engineering practices, including AI code review, coding agents, and Claude usage, while maintaining quality standards
Build fluency in BigQuery and dbt to align engineering and data decisions
Represent engineering in company strategy and communicate technical trade-offs to product and leadership
Own career development, progression, and hiring for the engineering team

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proven leadership of a product engineering team at a B2B SaaS company, ideally martech or adjacent
Strong frontend experience with React and TypeScript
Strong backend experience with PHP/Symfony or a comparable server-side stack and AWS
Experience owning, maintaining, and developing infrastructure across AWS (ECS, VPC, SQS, Aurora), GCP (Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, BigQuery), and Vercel
Fluency in data infrastructure, including pipelines and warehousing
Demonstrated AI-native practice, including AI-assisted coding and AI-augmented review, with judgment about appropriate guardrails
Player-coach track record: hands-on technical work while growing, hiring, and holding a team accountable
Comfortable in a turnaround/scale-up environment; pragmatic, decisive, able to build trust and momentum, and collaborative cross-functionally
Belief in product engineering, with full-stack ownership of outcomes and customer impact
