About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate and resolve Homeowners claims of moderate complexity promptly and efficiently
- Document claims with photographs, measurements, recorded interviews, file notes, and repair estimates
- Use imagery and advanced video technology to collaborate with onsite vendors and insureds and identify damage from a virtual setting
- Compare investigation facts against policies to determine coverage and extend or deny coverage as appropriate
- Establish reserve amounts within prescribed settlement authority limits
- Negotiate claim settlements and recommend claims exceeding authority limits to a supervisor
- Communicate with insureds and/or representatives by phone, email, text, and written communication
- Adhere to Department of Insurance requirements
- Prioritize responsibilities and manage claims workload, progress, and expenses through resolution
- Direct, monitor, and review files handled by independent adjusters when needed
- Perform other assigned functions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to obtain state specific property claims licensing, as required.
- Must successfully participate and complete formal property claims training program that may take place in person, virtually, or a combination of both
- Prior experience using estimating software like Xactimate.
- Experience in a related field: property claims experience, customer service environment, construction, restoration, mitigation
- Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal
- 3-5+ years equivalent industry experience is preferred
- Ability to work independently with limited or no supervision over daily activities required to successfully investigate, evaluate, write damage estimates, negotiate, and resolve property claims
- Comfortable with and adaptable to new technology and business tools
- Ability to transition between various methods of inspection, including video or photo, to write a damage estimate
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Ability and willingness to work flexible work shifts and overtime, as needs arise
- Must be able to work standard hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm PT
