About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigate and resolve moderately complex homeowners’ claims in a timely and efficient manner.
- Conduct field inspections at customer homes, at least 50% of work time, including travel to loss sites.
- Document claims with photographs, measurements, recorded interviews, file notes, and repair estimates.
- Handle virtual claims using imagery and advanced video technology with onsite vendors and insureds.
- Compare investigation findings against policies to determine coverage and extend or deny coverage.
- Establish reserve amounts within settlement authority and negotiate claim settlements.
- Recommend claims exceeding personal authority limits to a supervisor for approval.
- Communicate with insureds and representatives by phone, email, text, and written correspondence.
- Manage claims workload, progress, expenses, and inventory through resolution.
- Direct, monitor, and review files handled by independent adjusters when needed.
- Complete formal property claims training and transition into a field adjusting position after training.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Ability to obtain state specific property claims licensing, as required.
- Must successfully participate and complete formal property claims training program that may take place in person, virtually, or a combination of both.
- Have prior experience using estimating software like Xactimate.
- Experience in a related field: property claims experience, customer service environment, construction, restoration, mitigation.
- Are known for clear and professional communication, both written and verbal.
- 3-5+ years equivalent industry experience is preferred.
- Ability to work independently with limited or no supervision over daily activities required to successfully investigate, evaluate, write damage estimates, negotiate, and resolve property claims.
- Ability to adapt to new technology and business tools.
- Ability to transition between physical, video, or photo inspections.
- Ability to climb ladders to inspect roofing or attic space and inspect crawl spaces.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible work shifts and overtime as needed.
- Ability to drive to and from multiple locations, occasionally outside normal business hours.
