About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete formal property claims training
  • Transition into a property claims field adjusting position after training
  • Travel to loss sites damaged by fire, water, weather, or other unexpected events
  • Investigate and resolve moderate-complexity Homeowners claims
  • Conduct field inspections at customers’ homes at least 50% of work time
  • Document claims with photographs, measurements, recorded interviews, and file notes
  • Write repair and damage estimates
  • Handle claims virtually using imagery and advanced video technology
  • Collaborate with onsite vendors and insureds
  • Compare investigation findings with policy terms to determine coverage
  • Extend or deny coverage as appropriate
  • Establish reserves within settlement authority limits
  • Negotiate claim settlements and refer claims exceeding authority to a supervisor
  • Communicate with insureds and representatives by phone, email, text, and written correspondence
  • Manage claims workload, progress, and expenses through resolution
  • Direct, monitor, and review files handled by independent adjusters when needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Ability to obtain state specific property claims licensing, as required
  • Must successfully participate and complete formal property claims training program
  • Prior experience using estimating software like Xactimate
  • Experience in a related field: property claims experience, customer service environment, construction, restoration, or mitigation
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication
  • 3-5+ years equivalent industry experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently with limited or no supervision
  • Ability to use imagery and advanced video technology
  • Ability to transition between physical, video, or photo inspections
  • Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofing, attic spaces, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed
  • Ability to drive to multiple locations, occasionally outside normal business hours
