About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Write high-quality code for complex scenarios with good test coverage
  • Review and translate product requirements into robust designs for distributed application systems
  • Lead design and code reviews of multiple applications
  • Ensure adherence to best practices, Mercury standards, and high-quality delivery
  • Lead the sprint team to deliver new or improved features
  • Address impediments to delivering high-quality sprint solutions
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of intended functionality
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers
  • Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within Mercury engineering

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related fields Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years software programming experience
  • 2+ years experience in technologies used at Mercury
  • More than one year experience leading and mentoring engineering teams
  • Proficiency in one or more industry-standard programming languages, such as Java, Python, Go, C++, or JavaScript
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
  • Experience with relational databases, NoSQL, and caching solutions
  • Experience with REST and gRPC APIs
  • Proficiency in message queuing, data streaming, workflow, and integration frameworks
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Proficiency in DevSecOps
  • Experience designing and implementing distributed application systems
  • Experience leveraging analytics data and experimentation
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance skills
  • Experience driving technical strategy and vision for a team
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science preferred
  • Experience with RPA preferred
  • Experience with AI, including prompt tuning and model evaluations, preferred
  • Experience working within the insurance domain preferred
  • Experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure preferred
