About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the end-to-end Mesh experience across the consumer app and merchant surfaces, including first impressions, failure states, error recovery, and support handoffs
  • Solve complex experience problems hands-on across mental models, standardization, customization, shipping decisions, deposits, swaps, bridging, fiat on-ramps, and failure recovery
  • Act as the tiebreaker on experience questions, spending roughly half of the time on design work
  • Manage, coach, and grow current designers and hire as the team scales
  • Set the bar for design talent at Mesh
  • Reinvent design tools, workflows, and the balance of prototypes versus specifications for the AI era
  • Represent design at executive-level roadmap and customer decisions with the CEO, CTO, and SVP Product
  • Bring evidence-backed positions to strategic decisions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years in product design
  • 3+ years leading designers while staying hands-on
  • Shipped consumer products at scale and ability to show the work
  • Track record designing complex, high-stakes systems where users care when they fail, such as money movement, health, or infrastructure
  • First-principles thinking and ability to originate conceptual models
  • Experience changing roadmap direction with design arguments in executive and engineering leadership settings
  • Aggressive use of AI in design practice and willingness to rethink manual design work
  • Exceptional design ability is mandatory
  • Payments or fintech experience is a plus, not a requirement
