About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Greet, instruct, schedule, and register patients
- Check in patients and verify or update demographic and insurance information
- Assist patients with ambulatory difficulties
- Collect payments and enter charges into the computer system
- Answer, screen, and route telephone calls; take messages
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Maintain neat and orderly work and reception areas
- Advise the Practice Manager of front-office problems and concerns
- Attend educational and staff meetings
- Determine and input daily balances of charges and receipts
- Serve as a liaison between patients and clinical support staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school education or equivalent
- Knowledge of front office procedures and medical terminology
- Knowledge of medical office technology systems
- Excellent grammar and spelling skills
- Strong communication skills with judgment and discretion
- Previous two years in a front office using medical management software preferred
- Previous typing or data entry experience at 40 wpm
- Ability to work with staff members to foster a team approach
- Ability to follow OSHA regulations and established policies and procedures
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Manual dexterity to operate office technology
- Eyesight correctable to 20/20 and hearing within normal range for telephone use
