About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct mobile and site-based client assessments and determine eligibility for services
- Provide resource navigation, referrals, direct services, prevention assistance, and diversion support
- Administer prevention, diversion, financial assistance, and other approved support services
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records, case documentation, data entry, and reporting in HMIS and other required systems
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, funding requirements, grant requirements, budgets, and service objectives
- Serve as the primary Metropolitan Ministries representative at assigned community locations
- Build positive relationships with clients, volunteers, and community partners
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on outreach initiatives, neighborhood strategies, community events, and resource coordination
- Train, support, and coordinate volunteers
- Support holiday programs, special events, fundraising activities, community engagement, holiday tent registration and distribution, and Bridge Builders events
- Meet personal, team, and organizational goals outlined in the Strategic Plan
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, business, or a related field required
- Equivalent combinations of education, professional experience, and volunteer service in the social services field may be considered
- Experience working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, poverty, or other barriers to self-sufficiency
- Knowledge of community resources, case management principles, and client assessment practices preferred
- Participation in relevant trainings, seminars, conferences, and continuing education opportunities
- Comfort working with poor and homeless families
- Understanding of poverty and ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crises professionally and diplomatically
- Ability to deescalate clients with heightened emotions preferred
- Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework
- Ability to manage other employees and volunteers
- High computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams
- Oral and written communication skills; ability to write reports and conduct and participate in meetings
- Bilingual is a plus but not required
- Adequate hearing and speaking ability
- Ability to work outdoors in sunlight and higher temperatures on occasion
- Physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress
- Ability to lift 20 lbs. or more
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Must pass required background pre-employment screening
- Willingness to travel to designated partner sites and reliable transportation
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
