About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage the data and AI web search vendor portfolio, including cost per successful enrichment, hit rate, field-level quality, latency, and contract terms
Onboard vendors, run evaluations and bake-offs, and remove or renegotiate underperforming vendors
Instrument vendor calls end to end
Build a Python/TypeScript monitoring agent to detect hit-rate changes, drift, outages, and quality regressions
Evaluate AI web search and retrieval options, including model search tools, search APIs, crawlers, and structured extraction
Determine which enrichment signals improve loss ratio, bind rate, or underwriting speed
Sequence the enrichment roadmap and make build-versus-rent decisions based on unit economics
Write PRDs and execute across strategy, data, design, and engineering
Analyze warehouse data and own outcomes from concept through post-launch
Deliver measurable improvements in underwriting speed or accuracy

Requirements

What you’ll need

Meaningful shipped work beyond simple prototypes with an AI engineering tool such as Claude Code, Codex, or Devin, with demonstrable commits
5+ years of experience at a firm that achieved scale, ideally in InsurTech, FinTech, or Consulting
Ability to build and ship directly
Experience building evaluation harnesses for LLM or retrieval systems
Knowledge of precision, recall, and cost tradeoffs
Experience owning third-party data integrations and measuring vendor quality
Engineering background with pre-AI coding experience
Opinions backed by experiments on AI web search and extraction options
Growth-stage experience
References from peer department managers in Engineering, Data, or Underwriting
