About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide dynamic leadership for graduate education at Miami University
- Advocate for the role and importance of graduate education within the university and with external audiences
- Lead and direct Graduate School administrative operations, planning, policy, program development, marketing, student admissions, and student recruitment
- Collaborate with the provost, other deans, departments, faculty, and institutional leaders to advance academic excellence in graduate education
- Develop, implement, and administer Graduate School policies and procedures
- Oversee recruitment, admissions, enrollment, academic progress and milestones, and awarding of degrees
- Develop and articulate a university-wide vision and strategic plan for graduate education
- Evaluate the graduate program portfolio and recommend investments, restructuring, consolidation, or discontinuation
- Assist programs and departments in strengthening graduate programs
- Work with faculty to develop innovative and relevant curricular degree and non-degree granting programs
- Supervise Graduate School staff, currently 3 direct reports
- Serve as Chair of Graduate Council
- Represent the university on the ODHE Chancellor’s Council of Graduate Studies
- Conduct other duties assigned by the Provost
Requirements
What you’ll need- Terminal doctoral degree in a relevant discipline at Miami University
- 5+ years of administrative experience in higher education (associate dean, department chair) preferably at the graduate level, or equivalent
- Distinguished record of research or creative work, teaching, and service consistent with the rank of associate or full professor with tenure
- Demonstrated leadership experience at the department, college, and/or university level including fiscal management
- Experience at an R1 institution preferred
- Cover letter articulating interest in the position and alignment of relevant skills and previous experience
