About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct and oversee data collection, analysis, and manuscript writing
  • Assist with establishing the Wagner Lab at Miami University
  • Oversee projects
  • Order equipment and supplies
  • Coordinate fieldwork
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with project teams
  • Potentially mentor Miami undergraduate researchers and MS student researchers
  • Advance understanding of anthropogenic stressors on aquatic ecosystems and fisheries, including climate change, emerging contaminants, invasive species, and land use change
  • Work with dynamic and interdisciplinary teams to develop integrative, multidisciplinary science providing a system-level understanding of aquatic ecosystems and fish population dynamics

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Required: Master of Science or Ph.D. in ecology, fisheries, ecological statistics, or a related discipline with a strong quantitative background
  • Excellent written and oral communication skill
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Familiarity with the programming environment R
  • Familiarity with Bayesian hierarchical modeling
  • Experience with boat and backpack electrofishing
  • Ability to carry out aquatic ecology and fisheries fieldwork
  • Expectation to present research findings at scientific conferences
  • Expectation to contribute to academic journal publications
  • A criminal background check is required
  • Cover Letter and Resume/CV required
  • Preferred: LaTeX
