About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide accounting services as part of General Accounting
  • Support management of physical fixed assets and debt accounting
  • Prepare journal entries and various reports for the University
  • Perform monthly and year-end general ledger close
  • Create, record, and approve journal entries
  • Track and update capital expenditures and capitalize approved expenses
  • Perform annual physical inspections of University assets
  • Track lessee and lessor leases and prepare annual lease-accounting journal entries
  • Set up and monitor University projects
  • Process procurement invoices related to capital projects
  • Assist with annual audit footnote disclosures
  • Track and record University bonds and debt transactions
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly general ledger account reconciliations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or General Business
  • Active CPA license, or have met qualifications to sit for CPA exam (preferred)
  • Experience with ERP software system(s) (preferred)
  • Experience with fund accounting (preferred)
  • Proficient with Excel, including logic formulas, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, and pivot tables, and other analytical software
  • Knowledge of GAAP and accrual-based accounting
  • Working knowledge of FASB and/or GASB guidance (preferred)
  • Excellent communication, analytical, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and within deadline constraints
  • Must be within a drivable distance to Oxford, OH
  • Resume required
