About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform bridge inspections
Compile thorough inspection reports
Complete load rating assessments for simple and complex bridge structures
Perform structural analyses
Prepare comprehensive design calculations for bridges and related transportation infrastructure
Develop contract drawings, technical specifications, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and study reports
Collaborate with interdisciplinary design teams to support project delivery on schedule and within budget
Mentor entry-level engineers
Lead assigned task orders efficiently and effectively

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in bridges or structures, from an ABET-accredited university
4+ years of experience in bridge inspection, design, structural analysis, or related transportation infrastructure work
Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina, or ability to obtain licensure within two months of employment
Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work
Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, such as Leap Bridge, SAP2000, CSI Bridge, MiDAS, LPile, MathCAD, BrR, and FB Multipier
Working knowledge of applicable design codes, including AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation, SCDOT Bridge Design Manual, and SCDOT Seismic Design Specifications
Experience with structural analysis and design of steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete structures
