About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and manage transportation construction engineering and inspection (CEI) projects throughout the San Antonio region and across Texas.
Oversee field supervisors and provide leadership to inspection teams.
Support successful delivery of highway and bridge construction projects, primarily for TxDOT.
Coordinate with construction contractors, owners, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
Provide oversight of CEI teams to ensure quality project delivery and compliance with TxDOT requirements.
Oversee change order evaluations, inspector performance, and resolution of construction issues.
Manage project budgets, schedules, and overall financial performance.
Support contract negotiations and fee development for CEI and construction management projects.
Lead marketing and business development efforts to expand Michael Baker’s CEI presence in the San Antonio and South Texas markets.
Recruit, develop, and manage inspection staff for transportation projects.
Mentor and develop junior CEI Project Managers and inspection personnel.
Build and maintain relationships with TxDOT, local agencies, contractors, and industry partners.
Implement CEI and construction management best practices across the region.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
10+ years of transportation construction engineering, inspection, and construction management experience.
Experience delivering TxDOT roadway and bridge construction projects.
Strong knowledge of TxDOT procedures, specifications, and construction inspection requirements.
Demonstrated leadership, project management, and client relationship skills.
Proven business development and team-building capabilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
TxDOT certifications and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Familiarity with MicroStation, Primavera P6, and/or MS Project preferred.
