About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist Civil Engineers, Technical Managers, and Project Managers with data analysis, computations, design, and plan production on water/wastewater civil engineering projects
- Assist with design, construction documents, plan production, maps, basic reports, and supporting documentation for water and wastewater engineering projects
- Gather project-site background information, including reviewing as-built plans and mapping existing utility service
- Produce 1D and 2D surface water hydraulic models for floodplain mapping of individual watershed domains
- Conduct feasibility studies for water supply systems, runoff collection networks, water and wastewater treatment plants, and wastewater collection systems
- Prepare environmental documentation for regulatory program compliance
- Perform hydrological analyses using three-dimensional simulation software to model water movement
- Attend internal project meetings and participate as necessary
- Occasionally visit project sites and report findings to Engineers and/or Project Managers
- Assist in technical analysis and perform design calculations
- Assist with preparation of construction specifications for water and wastewater engineering projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 2 years of experience in Civil Engineering – Surface Water or related
- Demonstrated experience in municipal and highway water drainage projects
- Demonstrated knowledge of local drainage requirements for Southern California
- Demonstrated experience with municipal departments, regional agencies, state, and federal agencies in California
- Proficiency in at least 8 of the following software tools: AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, ArcGIS Pro, HydroCalc, TR-55, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, and PondPack
- Demonstrated knowledge of XPSWMM and PCSWMM Storm Water Management Models (SWMM)
- Ability to occasionally visit project sites
