About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with a team of engineers to deliver transportation engineering, public works and site development projects for municipal and county clients
  • Contribute to planning and design of roadway improvements, ADA accessibility enhancements, drainage systems, water quality features, and other infrastructure projects
  • Assist in preparing engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and bid documents
  • Support geometric roadway design, Civil 3D modeling, and other engineering analyses
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technical staff to complete high-quality deliverables on schedule and within budget
  • Participate in client meetings and project discussions, coordinating solutions and communicating project progress
  • Provide technical support to municipal agency clients and sometimes serve as an extension of agency staff
  • Conduct occasional field visits to gather information, observe site conditions, and support project development
  • Build technical expertise through mentorship, professional development, training programs, industry seminars, and professional organizations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with coursework or experience related to Public Works and/or Transportation Engineering
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant engineering experience
  • EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, and Microsoft is highly desirable
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn, grow, and apply engineering principles to develop innovative and practical design solutions
  • Occasional field visits required
