About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and develop a group of 140 professionals serving federal, state, county, municipal, and private-sector clients
  • Lead strategic business planning, financial management, technical oversight, staff development, business development, quality assurance, client management, and community engagement
  • Manage the North Carolina office P/L alongside MidAtlantic Regional operations, including revenue recognition, cash, and overhead management
  • Plan and implement marketing and business development strategies to grow backlog and expand markets, clients, capabilities, services, brand, and market share
  • Monitor client satisfaction and serve as the firm’s responsible contact
  • Manage professionals overseeing marketing, finance, office administration, production, and technical departments
  • Recruit, interview, hire, develop, and appraise employees
  • Negotiate contractual arrangements and assess, mitigate, and eliminate risks
  • Develop and implement short-, medium-, and long-range strategic plans
  • Review and analyze project activities, costs, operations, and forecasts to manage progress toward goals
  • Mentor and motivate staff on performance, technical, financial, and client-management matters
  • Develop emerging talent, leadership, and succession planning
  • Workshare and develop a balanced office portfolio
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
  • 15+ years in Engineering or Project Management with focus in either Transportation, Bridge, Water, or Municipal Services
  • 10+ years in a supervisory role
  • Operations and Business development experience
  • Familiarity with Alternative Delivery capture, risk management and pricing (DB, CMAR, Progressive DB, P3s)
  • Government experience or the ability to interact successfully with Local (County, Municipal), State and Federal Agencies
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • PE, AICP or AIA license preferred
