About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide full life-cycle project accounting support to Project Managers.
Analyze project financial performance and provide insights on project health, risks, and opportunities.
Identify potential project performance issues and communicate findings to the Regional Project Accounting Manager.
Coordinate project setup activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements and approval policies.
Review contracts and understand project scope, billing terms, funding requirements, and project structures.
Maintain project records within Oracle and manage project funding and budget updates.
Prepare monthly project reporting and provide detailed financial commentary, including unbilled and unearned revenue analysis.
Participate in project performance review meetings and provide financial guidance to project teams.
Support Project Managers and Department Managers with financial information, proposal support, pricing analysis, budgeting, audits, and special projects.
Monitor outstanding accounts receivable and partner with Project Managers on collection efforts.
Assist in resolving invoicing issues and developing corrective action plans to improve payment timing.
Ensure project revenue recognition complies with company policies and accounting standards.
Support financial review of projects, including evaluating cost-to-complete estimates and revenue recognition.
Assume ongoing project accounting ownership and provide full life-cycle financial oversight and support.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, project accounting, or a similar role.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with Project Managers and business leaders.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred: Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Preferred: CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification.
Preferred: Experience supporting internal or external audits.
Preferred: Experience with Oracle Project Accounting modules or a comparable ERP platform.
Preferred: Previous experience supporting project-based businesses, engineering, consulting, or professional services organizations.
