About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a team of engineers and designers in design and plan preparation for roadway, highway, and interstate improvement projects for KYTC and other local clients
- Deliver projects according to agreed plans, budgets, programs, and quality objectives
- Lead, assign, and review project delivery team work
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for transportation project design
- Check work progress and identify scope changes and additional services
- Mentor and develop staff
- Develop and oversee budgets and schedules
- Build and maintain relationships with key client decision makers
- Monitor upcoming project advertisements and changes in client organizations
- Lead proposal strategies and content and participate in interviews to win work
- Participate visibly and actively in the Kentucky Transportation community through professional organizations
- Develop and maintain trusted adviser relationships with local clients
- Set the vision for growth and lead market awareness
- Develop targeted client service action plans for KYTC, counties, and cities
- Coordinate staff workload with other transportation departments
- Lead and participate in strategic positioning for major highway or roadway project opportunities, including alternative delivery projects
- Ensure successful contracting and project execution
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kentucky required
- 10+ years of highway and/or roadway design experience with increasing levels of responsibility
- KYTC and/or other local client experience is a must
- Demonstrated supervisor and mentoring skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentation skills, public speaking ability, and problem-solving skills are required
- Strong track record of overseeing successful project delivery
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and conduct multi-tasking efforts
- Have the drive to be a leader in the company and in the professional community
- Possess strong engineering judgment with a strive for quality and financial excellence
