About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead design and plan production for conventional design-bid-build and/or design-build highway and multimodal transportation projects
- Review technical staff work, including QA/QC of plans and specifications
- Mentor, train, and develop junior engineers and designers
- Apply roadway design knowledge including roadway geometrics, drainage, hydrology and hydraulics, traffic-related considerations, and highway planning
- Utilize OpenRoads Designer for roadway modeling, design development, and plan production
- Provide engineering design, technical oversight, and project delivery support for transportation and public works projects throughout Ohio
- Assist on projects in other states
- Develop proposals, support project pursuits, and engage with clients as the role grows
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Ohio required
- 10+ years of roadway design experience
- Emphasis on ODOT and/or City of Columbus projects preferred
- Demonstrated success delivering transportation infrastructure projects and programs
- Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation required
- Working knowledge of ODOT standards, procedures, and project delivery requirements
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing project tasks, schedules, and budgets
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively prepare and present technical documentation
