About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead aviation planning and design projects from concept through construction, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client relationships
- Manage airport planning, engineering, and civil infrastructure projects throughout Alaska
- Lead projects from planning and preliminary design through final design and construction documents
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects on schedule and within budget
- Support construction activities and project implementation
- Provide technical leadership and practical solutions for complex aviation engineering challenges
- Lead engineering analyses, design development, modeling, and technical decision-making
- Serve as a technical resource for aviation projects in Alaska and nationwide
- Provide guidance on airport design standards and engineering best practices
- Support key aviation pursuits and projects
- Develop engineering talent and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams
- Mentor and develop engineering and technical staff
- Promote quality, technical excellence, innovation, and knowledge sharing
- Help strengthen and expand Michael Baker’s aviation presence in Alaska
- Build and maintain strong client relationships

Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Alaska, or an out of state license and ability to obtain an Alaska PE in six months
- 10+ years of civil engineering and project management experience, including plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
- 5+ years of experience leading technical teams and mentoring staff
- Aviation engineering and airport project experience preferred
- Experience delivering infrastructure projects in remote or rural Alaska
- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
- Experience collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience supporting business development and proposals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS applications is a plus
