About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform complex structural analysis and prepare design calculations.
- Lead bridge/structural tasks as part of project development, including plan and report production.
- Develop or assist in developing structural details and construction plans using GDOT and industry-standard software packages.
- Assist and check design calculations performed by others.
- Prepare geometric/bridge layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations.
- Develop, establish, and maintain relationships with employees, clients, and industry-related organizations and stakeholders.
- Train structural engineering staff with less experience.
- Collaborate with technical experts throughout the country.
- Interface with traffic, civil, planning, geotechnical, and other disciplines to support diverse projects.
- Help address critical infrastructure challenges while contributing to the organization's growth.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's degree is highly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in structural engineering with 6+ years working on Georgia DOT Projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in the State of Georgia or ability to obtain in six (6) months.
- Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles.
- Experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI and other North American design codes.
- Experience with the design of multiple bridge types in concrete and steel, and knowledge of staged construction analysis.
- Solid background and understanding of structural engineering software packages such as MDX, Leap Concrete Connect, MIDAS, and FB Pier.
- Preferred experience with engineering design software such as STAAD, LPILE, CSI Bridge, Open Bridge Designer, and MicroStation V8i.
- Experience with Design-Build delivery, preferred.
- Experience with GDOT bridge policy and plan preparation is required.
