About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee the planning, inspection and safety evaluations of state and locally owned bridges
  • Review inspection reports
  • Manage and work closely with the New Jersey team to coordinate and perform inspections
  • Evaluate bridge conditions and review reports
  • Identify maintenance needs and properly code structure inspections in I-forms
  • Perform load rating analysis
  • Meet with clients to advise on priority maintenance items
  • Ensure timely submission of inspection documents
  • Direct the Bridge Inspection Group with project management and inspection tasks
  • Attend client meetings and lead assignments
  • Oversee inspection assistants and project managers
  • Coordinate traffic control subcontractors
  • Schedule man-lifts and under-bridge cranes for inspections
  • Use hand tools, ladders, under-bridge cranes and other equipment necessary for bridge evaluation
  • Contribute to proposals, business development, and client relationships

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis, or equivalent work experience
  • 15+ years of experience in bridge inspection and design
  • NJ and/or NY Professional Engineer (PE) License, or the ability to obtain within six months through reciprocity
  • NBIS Certified Bridge Safety inspector who has taken the two-week FHWA-NHI Bridge Safety Inspection courses
  • Bridge Load Rating Experience is a plus
  • Familiar with structural design software and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
  • Fracture Critical inspection experience a plus
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
