About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage roadway and/or bridge projects for IDOT, Illinois Tollway, and local agencies
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, quality, and overall project delivery
- Provide technical leadership in roadway or bridge design, modeling, and plan production
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices and coordinate with subconsultants
- Review plans, reports, and proposals for accuracy, compliance, and quality
- Lead QA/QC efforts, identify project risks, and resolve technical and project delivery challenges
- Build and maintain client relationships and support client satisfaction and long-term partnerships
- Support proposal development, business development, and pursuit of future project opportunities
- Mentor staff and foster a collaborative team environment
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients to advance project approvals
- Travel occasionally to support project and client needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois, or ability to obtain within four months of hire
- 15+ years of transportation engineering experience
- Demonstrated success managing complex Phase I and/or Phase II roadway and/or bridge projects
- Experience delivering IDOT, Illinois Tollway, and Illinois Local Agency projects strongly preferred
- Strong project management skills, including managing scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, and project risk
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage change, and resolve complex technical challenges
- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and ProjectWise
- PMP, PTOE, SE, or other relevant professional certifications are a plus but not required
