About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support public-sector transportation, safety, mobility, multimodal, corridor, and community planning projects.
- Gather, analyze, interpret, and visualize data to support infrastructure and planning decisions.
- Develop maps, presentations, technical reports, grant materials, and public-facing communications.
- Assist with public meetings, workshops, interviews, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Collaborate with local governments, Tribal organizations, regional partners, and state agencies.
- Research public funding opportunities and support grant applications and implementation strategies.
- Participate in field visits and community travel throughout Alaska.
- Support project coordination, proposal development, and business growth initiatives.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in planning, Geography, Public Administration, Environmental Studies, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of experience in transportation, community, regional, or infrastructure planning, ideally supporting public agencies, municipalities, Tribal organizations, or DOT-related programs.
- Strong writing, communication, research, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines.
- Interest in working directly with communities, stakeholders, and agency partners.
- Ability to travel to communities and project sites within Alaska as needed.
- Collaborative mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to take on new challenges.
- Commitment to improving mobility, safety, infrastructure, and quality of life in Alaska communities.
- Experience with GIS, mapping, data visualization, graphic design, or presentation tools.
- Experience with transportation safety plans, corridor studies, multimodal planning, community plans, or public engagement.
- Familiarity with public-sector grants, funding programs, or proposal development.
- Experience working with Alaska communities, Tribal organizations, local governments, or state agencies.
