About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage transportation and roadway projects from proposal development through final delivery
- Lead project teams in roadway design, plan production, QA/QC reviews, and technical analyses
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and fee proposals
- Build and maintain client relationships while supporting strategic business development initiatives throughout Wisconsin
- Coordinate engineers, technicians, and subconsultants to deliver projects on schedule and within budget
- Monitor project performance, financials, staffing utilization, and project risks
- Provide technical direction, leadership, and mentorship to engineering staff
- Support transportation design efforts using OpenRoads Designer and other digital delivery tools
- Collaborate with regional leadership to expand Michael Baker's transportation practice across Wisconsin
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Wisconsin PE preferred or ability to obtain reciprocity
- 15+ years of transportation engineering and project management experience
- Proven experience delivering highway and roadway projects for WisDOT, counties, municipalities, Design-Build, and other public-sector clients
- Strong leadership, client relationship management, business development, and communication skills
- Experience managing project scopes, budgets, schedules, quality, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
- Experience with roadway design, corridor modeling, plan production, and digital project delivery
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering staff
- Established relationships with WisDOT and local agency stakeholders throughout Wisconsin
- Experience leading pursuits, proposal development, and transportation practice growth initiatives
- PMP certification and multi-state PE licensure are a plus
- Pre-employment substance abuse testing and background checks
