About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, deploy, and maintain applications using Python, Quickbase, and web technologies
Develop software supporting engineering calculations, analytical models, data processing, and technical workflows
Modernize spreadsheet-based engineering tools with engineering staff
Develop and enhance Quickbase applications, including data models, interfaces, reports, dashboards, and automated workflows
Support modernization and migration of legacy applications and platforms
Write, maintain, and improve business applications and client-facing solutions
Troubleshoot technical issues, resolve defects, and improve application performance and reliability
Respond to support requests and bug tickets within established SLAs
Follow best practices for testing, documentation, version control, and security
Prepare technical documentation and provide user training as needed
Develop and maintain integrations using APIs and other integration technologies
Build and maintain automated workflows, data pipelines, and scheduled processes
Improve data accessibility, accuracy, consistency, and reliability
Implement data access controls and security practices
Support application and automated-process deployment and maintenance in cloud environments
Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency
Identify opportunities for AI-enabled applications and workflow automation
Develop, test, and implement AI-powered solutions using APIs and large language models
Integrate AI capabilities into applications, business processes, and data workflows
Evaluate AI solutions for accuracy, reliability, security, and business value
Research and apply emerging AI development tools and techniques
Collaborate with the Software Product Manager, internal teams, and external stakeholders to understand needs and design solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
3+ years of professional software development or application development experience
Proficiency in Python or a comparable programming language
Experience developing and maintaining business applications, web applications, or automated workflows
Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and system integrations
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relational databases
Experience using Git or similar version control systems
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Experience with Quickbase application development, including Pipelines, custom pages, and third-party integrations
Experience developing software solutions for engineering, energy efficiency, building systems, or other technical applications
Experience developing and deploying Python applications in cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
Experience designing relational database schemas and writing complex SQL, ideally in PostgreSQL
Familiarity with Docker, automated testing, and continuous integration/deployment practices
Experience with AI development, including LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and agent-based workflows
Experience developing data pipelines, reports, and business intelligence solutions
Familiarity with Agile software development practices
Experience supporting client-facing applications or business process automation
Familiarity with engineering concepts or a background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
