About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain and grow sales of equine veterinary supplies to equine hospitals, equine boarding facility arenas, and horse tracks in an assigned geographic area
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales Representatives to maximize sales
  • Plan calls, organize iPad materials, distribute literature packets, analyze sales calls, send advance notice cards, and stay current on promotions, products, email, mail, and industry trends
  • Make sales calls to equine veterinary clinics, tracks, universities, and research facilities within the assigned territory
  • Sell equine veterinary products and Midwest Equine Business Solutions to approximately 75–90 equine-only accounts
  • Provide market information to assigned clinics
  • Support equine business growth through collaboration with ISR/OSR teams, educational programs, and marketing programs
  • Establish and maintain relationships with equine vendor representatives
  • Ride with BI, Clipper, Merial, Merck, and Zoetis representatives at least quarterly
  • Attend vendor-sponsored veterinary meetings, equine trade shows, regional and national company meetings, and vendor training
  • Participate in corporate initiatives to increase MVS’s equine presence
  • Work with the Equine Business Unit Director, Regional Manager, and National Sales Manager
  • Respond to approved vendor requests, including surveys and territory analyses
  • Manage and submit expense accounts within two weeks
  • Provide territory reporting as requested
  • Drive extensively between clinics and work from a vehicle throughout the day

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Candidate must reside in Kentucky
  • A High School Diploma or equivalency is required
  • A four-year college degree is preferred
  • A minimum of two years' experience within the equine veterinary industry in a field sale role is required
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, employment policies, operating instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Superior listening and verbal communication skills, including diplomacy and professional sales techniques
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work accurately with highly detailed information
  • Basic computer skills including data entry
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Must be self-motivated and hardworking
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and remain eligible to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the Company
  • Must maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record and remain insurable under the Company's automobile insurance program
  • Must be able to handle high stress and rejection
  • Must meet frequent deadlines
  • Must be able to fly to vendor training and National Sales meetings
