About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive complex projects contributing to clients’ business strategy
  • Produce high-quality analytical work autonomously and with project team members
  • Delegate tasks to junior staff
  • Manipulate and summarize complex data in Excel
  • Use supplemental programming, statistical, and database skills on client assignments
  • Oversee execution of ad hoc and longer-term projects
  • Write reports and support client communication
  • Interact directly with clients and their vendor partners, such as brokers, captive managers, and auditors
  • Direct, train, and guide Actuarial Analysts on tasks such as data cleaning and checking
  • Comply with internal quality control, risk management, and peer review guidelines
  • Participate in marketing opportunities, including publications and presentations
  • Present findings to peers, project managers, and client relationship managers
  • Draft written reports, exhibits, and internal/external correspondence
  • Check own and peers’ work for mechanical and methodological accuracy
  • Document data compilation processes for specific projects
  • Implement process improvements
  • Perform other duties assigned by practice Principals
  • Pursue Fellowship with the Casualty Actuarial Society through actuarial examinations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate credential from the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS), attained by the time of application
  • Up to 10 years of professional actuarial full-time work experience in pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, capital modeling, enterprise risk management, and/or reinsurance-related actuarial topics for North American and/or European companies
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree or higher at the time of application, including quantitative coursework in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, etc.
  • Substantial experience with MS Excel and Word
  • Mastery of R for statistical modeling
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without immigration support or sponsorship now or in the future
  • Strong critical thinking, technical, and analytical skills
  • Superb attention to detail and dedication to technical accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively and organize various client needs simultaneously across multiple concurrent projects
  • Willingness to put in extra effort when required by clients
  • Ability and willingness to clearly articulate questions and ideas
  • Demonstrated leadership and creative thinking abilities
  • Intellectual curiosity about risk, Milliman, and the practice’s work
  • Enthusiasm for producing high-quality, professional work with accuracy and integrity
  • Self-starter with excellent time management skills, including collaboration across time zones
  • Preferred: pursuit of Fellow of Casualty Actuarial Society credential
  • Preferred: mastery of @Risk, VBA, Python, SAS, STATA, or similar statistical and modeling tools
  • Preferred: working knowledge of Access and PowerPoint
