Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Track record of shipping products, internal tools, open-source projects, or serious side projects to real users
  • Strong fundamentals and ability to learn quickly
  • Product-focused judgment and customer orientation
  • Ability to reason about blast radius, trust boundaries, and security-sensitive infrastructure
  • Ability to read unfamiliar code, reason from first principles, and explain tradeoffs
  • Comfortable across TypeScript, Python, and CockroachDB, or able to learn new languages, protocols, and domains quickly
  • Excited to build with AI agents and identify when they conceal problems
  • Already builds with AI every day and wants to work without heavy process
  • Willing to work in a hybrid environment in the San Mateo or San Francisco offices 3x a week
  • College degree asked about in the application form, but not stated as a job requirement
  • Nice to have: developer-facing products, protocol or gateway work, infrastructure at scale, security/identity/permission systems, open-source contributions, MCP servers, agentic frameworks, and design sensibility
