About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop reliable embedded Linux software in Python and firmware solutions in C/C++
- Own features from initial concept through completion
- Partner with Electrical Engineering during hardware bring-up and debugging
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve product and manufacturing-related hardware issues
- Perform manual and automated testing
- Collaborate with QA to ensure complete test coverage across hardware interfaces
- Work with the Device Software team to resolve software dependencies
- Participate in peer code reviews
- Maintain scalable and maintainable firmware
Requirements
What you’ll need- Solid embedded and firmware design experience
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python
- Familiarity with embedded systems at board and IC level
- Ability to read schematics and datasheets
- Experience using an oscilloscope for troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with UART, I2C, SPI, USB, and Ethernet
- Experience working in Linux environments and with command-line utilities such as tcpdump or netcat
- Exposure to Yocto, Buildroot, or an RTOS is ideal
- Familiarity with Git, Docker, CMake, and AWS
- Strong unit testing and static analysis principles
- Interest in using AI tools such as AMP AI
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across QA, Electrical, and Software teams
- Legally eligible to work in either Canada or the United States
