About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in 6 virtual Board meetings annually, 2 hours each, on the third Tuesdays at 5:30pm PST
  • Review Board packets before meetings, requiring 1–3 hours per packet
  • Attend 1 annual in-person Board and Staff retreat at locations across the Northwest
  • Participate in 8–10 virtual committee meetings annually, 1–2 hours each, plus time for committee projects
  • Attend local Pride Foundation events and occasional outreach meetings and opportunities
  • Respond promptly to email communications and complete a few annual internal surveys
  • Commit to ongoing learning and growth as Pride Foundation transforms its work, organization, and sector
  • Serve as an ambassador for Pride Foundation and bring its work into personal networks
  • Contribute to Pride Foundation financially in a personally meaningful way
  • Apply through the open Board member prospect process; finalists meet with the Board Development Committee and CEO before full Board review and approval

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Share a commitment to LGBTQ+, gender, and racial justice, with experience living out this commitment
  • Bring a strong analysis of power and privilege
  • Bring passion for Pride Foundation’s role as a Northwest community foundation and its programmatic and fundraising work
  • Experience with Pride Foundation as a grantee, scholar, donor, volunteer, partner, or community member, or deep familiarity with the organization’s work
  • Share Pride Foundation’s values of Hope & Joy, Justice & Collective Liberation, Integrity & Trust, Regeneration & Sustainability, and Growth & Courage
  • Share a commitment to building a liberatory model of governance
  • Willingness to make a personally meaningful financial contribution; no minimum gift expectation
  • Priority given to experience in philanthropy, changing funding landscapes, mobilizing individual donor resources, and/or direct leadership with funded organizations, people, communities, and work
  • Ability and willingness to fulfill Board service commitments
