About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work closely with Mitacs Business Development, Research, and Programs teams to deliver high-quality programming
  • Work closely with post-secondary partners to understand researcher and student needs, find industry opportunities, and identify suitable programs
  • Create and maintain a network of industry and academic partners/clients
  • Introduce companies and not-for-profit organizations to Mitacs programs
  • Introduce companies to university and college researchers
  • Provide support to the Business Development team as needed
  • Provide business and application development support to all Mitacs programs
  • Provide business development and student engagement support
  • Collaborate with post-secondary research and administration offices involved in administering Mitacs programs
  • Promote Mitacs programs and connect companies with researchers as a bridge between academia and industry

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Recent Masters or PhD (within one or two years), preferably from a Calgary-based post-secondary institution
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Enthusiastic and high-energy self-starter spirit
  • Team player spirit
  • Ability to think creatively and try new things
  • Desire to pursue a career outside of research and academia
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-performance culture
  • Knowledge of written and spoken English is required
  • Special consideration for applicants with an active social network of local academics and industry and proven ability to promote participation and sponsorship in community programs or initiatives
