About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work closely with members of Mitacs Business Development, Research, and Programs teams to deliver high-quality programming
- Work closely with stakeholders at University of Lethbridge to understand researcher and student needs, find industry opportunities, and identify the best programs for research opportunities
- Work with postsecondary institutions in Southern Alberta, including Lethbridge Polytechnic, Red Crow Community College, and Medicine Hat College
- Create and maintain a network of partners and clients in industry and academia
- Introduce companies and not-for-profit organizations to Mitacs programs
- Introduce companies to researchers
- Provide support to the Business Development team and all Mitacs programs as needed
- Provide business development and student engagement support to University of Lethbridge and other participant institutions
- Collaborate with offices involved in Mitacs program administration to clarify roles, increase participation, promote opportunities, and assist in negotiating agreements between the University of Lethbridge and industry partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- Recent Masters or PhD (within one or two years), ideally from University of Lethbridge, or an equivalent combination of education and research experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Enthusiastic and high-energy self-starter spirit
- Team player spirit
- Ability to think creatively and try new things
- Desire to pursue a career outside of research and academia
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-performance culture
- Knowledge of written and spoken English is required in this role as you will interact with colleagues, clients and stakeholders located across Canada
- Special consideration will be given to applicants with an active social network with proven ability to promote participation and sponsorship in programs or initiatives in their community
