About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Clarify, define, maintain, consolidate, and optimize configurations of gas turbine, steam turbine, and auxiliary parts
  • Develop and maintain engineering databases, system interfaces, data exchange architecture, business processes, and related systems
  • Respond to customer quotation and purchase requests by clarifying, identifying, and assigning MPW-A part numbers
  • Ensure parts have sufficient engineering definition for sourcing, suppliers, and manufacturers
  • Collect, analyze, summarize, and document configuration requirements, design bills of materials, service bills of materials, parts catalogs, and quotable/procurable part definitions
  • Review and recommend configuration management process changes and develop automation and process improvements
  • Support system design, testing, implementation, and part consolidation activities
  • Identify information shortcomings causing business inefficiencies and apply configuration-management best practices
  • Consolidate corporate baselines of supported gas turbine, steam turbine, and auxiliary installations
  • Study equipment interchangeability and upgrade planning
  • Provide rapid transactional and LTSA customer support for quoting, ordering, part clarification, definition, and publishing from PLM to ERP
  • Provide assigned same-day on-call support outside regular business hours for customer-site outages
  • Support ISO 9001 audits and compliance efforts
  • Comply with safety policies, protect confidential information, communicate professionally, and support departmental and company goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree(s) in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Strong proficiency/fluency in English verbal, digital, reading, listening, writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to perform calculations typically within the scope of college-level precalculus and statistics
  • Ability to adhere to instructions and make judgment decisions based on specifications, technical requirements, and applicable guidelines
  • Knowledge of internet browsing, spreadsheet, word-processing, email, instant-messaging, PDF-editing, presentation, file-sharing, data-visualization, PLM, ERP, CRM, and PPM software
  • Knowledge/familiarity with configuration engineering, configuration control, systems engineering, combined-cycle power plants, gas turbines, steam turbines, manufacturing engineering, engineering drawings, specifications, CAD, bills of material, materials science, PLM, ERP, CRM, or related areas strongly preferred
  • Experience with software including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Visio, Power BI, OneNote, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, PTC Windchill, SAP ERP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle Primavera P6, PTC Creo, AutoCAD, PTC Arbortext, and/or HxGN SDx highly desirable
  • Additional Japanese proficiency is highly desirable but not required
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, type, talk, and hear
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to adhere to safety procedures and use personal protective equipment when required
  • Limited overnight travel, typically less than 5% annually
