About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Teach online EFL lessons through Zoom and MLA’s dedicated teaching platform
- Teach General English, Cambridge Exam Preparation or Work Skills according to experience and programme needs
- Prepare students aged 11–18 for A2 Key, B1 Preliminary, B2 First and C1 Advanced examinations
- Develop practical communication skills through collaborative projects, role-plays, debates and presentations
- Deliver General English lessons using MLA’s Task-Based Learning syllabus, lesson plans and materials
- Provide feedback on language use and communication skills
- Manage classes of up to 15 students
- Remain available for standby sessions and cover online lessons at short notice when required
- Use standby time for lesson preparation and other teaching-related tasks when cover is not required
- Attend paid training between 12 and 19 November 2026
- Teach during the online programme from 23 November 2026 to 9 June 2027
- Potentially continue teaching students in person at MLA summer schools in the UK or USA
- Potentially undertake Assistant Director of Studies or Director of Studies duties, subject to qualifications
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience teaching EFL to groups online
- Proven experience teaching young learners
- Confidence teaching lower-level learners
- Level 5 TEFL qualification with an observed Teaching Practice component or equivalent
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms, video-conferencing software and educational technology
- English proficiency at CEFR C2 level
- Eligibility to work in the UK and/or USA
- Two satisfactory professional references, including one from a current employer or relevant referee
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory background or safeguarding check appropriate to the role
- For UK positions, acceptable right-to-work status such as a UK passport, Frontier Worker Permit, Settled Status or appropriate work visa
- For USA positions, US citizenship or existing appropriate US work authorisation
- Desirable: experience teaching Cambridge examination classes or task-based learning to teenagers
- Desirable: at least two years' experience teaching EFL online, teaching young learners, or both
- Desirable: summer school experience
- Availability Monday to Friday from 15:30 to 20:00 Italian local time (CET/CEST)
- Ability to remain available and contactable for standby sessions
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
