About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve complex equipment, programming, system, and installation problems involving two-way radios, land mobile radios, P25 trunking systems, MOTOTRBO, and related technologies
  • Restore communications for public safety, hospital, and other mission-critical customers when systems fail
  • Partner with customers to develop installation and programming strategies
  • Coordinate with the team to ensure access to installation locations
  • Assist with scoping and quoting service, installation, and programming projects
  • Support development of the service team's talent and technical skills
  • Complete assigned tickets properly and on time
  • Make minor modifications to electronic circuitry per customer request
  • Deploy factory software and firmware updates
  • Learn and receive mentoring on new communications technologies and equipment
  • Serve in an on-call rotation and provide 24/7 technical support
  • Travel as necessary to support company and customer needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum two (2) years of technical service and installation experience; an average of 5+ years preferred/typical
  • Proficient with radio equipment installation, programming, and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on operational, technical, and installation support/service experience with complex radio and wireless communications systems/equipment
  • Extensive knowledge/understanding of radio theory, RF propagation characteristics at various frequency bands, and communications systems
  • Expert subscriber programming skills across various radio types based on customer requirements
  • Strong communication skills with end users and third parties
  • P25 and/or MotoTRBO experience required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must successfully pass the company's Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
  • Ability to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb stairs, talk or hear, and use personal protective equipment
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions
  • Ability to work outdoor weather conditions
  • Ability to be on-call for critical systems maintenance
  • Ability to work first shift Monday–Friday, with occasional second or third shifts and weekends depending on project schedules
  • Ability to travel as necessary to support company and customer needs
