About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ghostwrite executive articles for owned, social, and external distribution channels
- Interview internal subject-matter experts, clients, and partners to extract story angles and original perspectives
- Develop sponsored editorial and co-authored pieces for targeted trade publishers
- Support live programming, including office hours, panel appearances, and recurring conversations with senior ModSquad voices
- Prepare participants, frame live programming, and turn recordings into written pieces
- Track the customer experience, trust & safety, moderation, and outsourcing landscape
- Analyze competitor positioning, vendor claims, analyst coverage, and regulatory movement
- Build data-led editorial, including original surveys, benchmark analyses, state-of-the-industry pieces, and data-grounded commentary
- Translate industry research into arguments practitioners can use
- Identify stories competitors are not telling
- Partner with Account Management and Sales to identify client stories
- Develop anonymized or attributed client stories that are specific and authentic
- Build a repeatable process for sourcing, quantifying, and clearing client stories, including business outcomes
- Work with the Content & Creative Production team and collaborate with the Head of Brand and VP of Marketing
- Provide services on an as-needed basis with weekly hours varying by project volume
- Track time through Teambridge Systems and submit monthly invoices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated experience covering or analyzing at least one of: customer experience, contact centers, BPO/outsourcing, trust & safety, content moderation, enterprise SaaS, or digital operations
- Track record in journalism, trade publishing, industry analysis, or research writing, not general content marketing
- Demonstrable executive ghostwriting, with published examples
- Experience producing or interpreting original research, including surveys, benchmark data, or industry datasets
- Ability to extract story angles and original perspectives from executive, client, and partner interviews
- Ability to build coherent, logical arguments from ideas or rough briefs
- Knowledge of trade publication workflows, including editorial pitches, sponsored content, and co-authorship
- Knowledge of relevant publications, newsletters, and analysts in the category
- Comfortable working with plain text workflows, Markdown, and GitHub
- Familiarity with the Paramedic Method from Revising Prose or Several Short Sentences About Writing
- Fast, self-directed, and able to work without heavy oversight
- Comfortable working as an independent contractor alongside an in-house team
- Must perform services from an eligible U.S. location outside New York City, New York, and Jersey City, New Jersey
- Cover letter and writing samples must be the applicant's own work
