About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establish and operate MBSCL’s independent Compliance function as it progresses through FCA authorisation
- Hold the SMF16 Compliance Oversight and SMF17 Money Laundering Reporting Officer functions for MBSCL
- Report to the MBSCL SMF1, with direct accountability to the MBSCL Board and a dotted line to the Moneybox Group VP of Risk and Compliance
- Oversee the intra-group agreement with Digital Moneybox Limited and provide compliance advisory support to the advice business
- Implement MBSCL’s risk management framework, adapting taxonomy, policies, governance and tooling for an advice business
- Develop and maintain risk appetite statements, tolerances and KRIs with the executive and Board
- Support risk and control self-assessments and independently challenge results
- Design and embed go-live controls for the advice journey and AI advice engine
- Lead capital and liquidity adequacy assessments, wind-down planning, scenario analysis and stress testing
- Provide independent oversight across conduct, operational, financial, model and AI, data and third-party risks
- Produce risk management information for the Board, Advice Oversight Committee and executive
- Establish and run risk event, incident and breach processes, including root-cause analysis and remediation tracking
- Design and deliver second-line control testing and assurance plans
- Oversee operational resilience and business continuity
- Assess and challenge risks from dependencies on DML and other third parties
- Provide second-line risk opinions on new propositions, advice engine and House Rules changes
- Support Board, committee and FCA engagement and build risk awareness through training and business partnering
- In the first six to twelve months, stand up the compliance function, establish DML oversight and build relationships with co-sourced financial crime and outsourced internal audit providers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Substantial experience in a second line risk role within an FCA-regulated investment, wealth, platform or fintech firm
- Hands-on experience implementing or running a risk management framework, including risk taxonomy, risk appetite, KRIs, RCSAs, risk event management and risk reporting
- Working knowledge of the FCA prudential regime for exempt CAD firms, including the wind down process, own funds and liquid assets requirements
- Working knowledge of operational resilience (SYSC 15A) and outsourcing and third-party risk (SYSC 8)
- Understanding of the FCA conduct framework (Consumer Duty, COBS, SM&CR) sufficient to assess conduct risk in an advice context
- Experience supporting a new regulated service launch, an FCA authorisation or similar build environment is highly desirable
- Technology, platform or model risk experience, including automated or AI-driven decisioning, is beneficial but not essential
- Experience of group structures, including relying on or overseeing a group supplier, is advantageous
- Ability to produce clear risk MI and papers that stand up to Board and regulator scrutiny
- Recognised risk qualification, such as an IRM Certificate or Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management, is desirable
- Ability to work within the UK
- No visa sponsorship is available; overseas applications cannot be considered
- Satisfactory pre-employment checks, including criminal record and adverse credit history checks
