About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead overall propulsion design and development supporting customer missions from conceptual design through development, qualification, production, and large-scale industrialization
  • Lead or oversee detailed systems and fluidic analyses for conceptual designs and component selection
  • Work with internal and external supply bases to align component capabilities with system-level requirements
  • Oversee detailed design and verification plans for propulsion systems
  • Plan or oversee component, subsystem, and system-level design activities, build processes, and test campaigns
  • Mentor and coach engineers in propulsion systems design
  • Use Teamcenter/NX or comparable CAD applications to guide engineers in generating conceptual designs and drawings
  • Develop product requirements with customers and sales personnel and translate them into engineering development strategies
  • Build customer contacts and serve as a subject matter expert
  • Support pursuits and provide guidance to other Moog business units
  • Validate conceptual solutions through trade studies and analyses
  • Assist with interviewing, training, and counseling junior engineers
  • Present work to colleagues and customers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required
  • Master’s or PHD preferred
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience
  • 5 years of leading or supporting development projects
  • Experience interfacing with customers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to mentor and coach other engineers
  • Ability to understand new technical concepts and products, understand risks, and take appropriate action
  • Experience designing propulsion systems for large scale, large volume production with a design for manufacturing (DFM) mindset is a plus
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance
  • Ability to access U.S. export-controlled information
  • Ability to complete a full physical including bloodwork and pulmonary function testing
  • Ability to work in Teamcenter/NX or comparable CAD application
